Centricity Records is bringing holiday cheer this season by releasing the Christmas project, Bethlehem Skyline, October 9th.
Bethlehem Skyline spotlights the talented roster of artists on the label including downhere, Circleslide, Jason Gray, Jaime Jamgochian, and Daniel Kirkley. The album showcases seasonal classics like Joy To The World, Oh Come Oh Come Emmanuele, and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, done with updated arrangements that reflect each artist’s personal style. And of course there are new songs that will soon become Christmas favourites such as downhere’s Glory To God In The Highest, and the Circleslide song, Jesus Is Born, whose lyric lent itself to the project’s title. Plus on the finale of the CD is the entire family of Centricity artists lending their voices to a spirited version of, O Come All Ye Faithful.
“One of the neat things about Bethlehem Skyline is that it is essentially a family project,” says downhere’s Jeremy Thiessen. “There are only a few artists on Centricity Records and we have all become like family, so to record an album together and to all be working toward the same goal is pretty special. There are a number of original Christmas songs on it too which I think will speak to people. We all love the classics, but there’s room for new Christmas songs too and I think there are a number of soon-to-be classics on this CD.”
Glenn Lavender of downhere adds, “Hearing some songs will bring back certain memories from years past, meals spent together, games played together, and so on. Then there are other songs, songs about the son of God coming to Earth, which take me to a totally different place.”
“It is these songs being played over and over in my car, in the malls, and in friends homes that really help set up the importance of that day so long ago we are celebrating,” continues Lavender. “So when the day finally comes, the weight of everything I’ve been listening to reminds me of how wonderful and loving a God I serve that he would be willing to transform himself into a lowly man and not only live among us but serve us.”
Bethlehem Skyline will be value priced at $12.99 or less when it arrives at Canadian Christian retailers. For more information on Bethlehem Skyline, please visit the Christmas section of YourMusicZone.com.
