Carried Away Added To Citytv New Year’s Eve Show

Publish Date: Dec 21, 2007

Pop trio Carried Away have been added to the annual Citytv New Year’s Eve Bash at Nathan Phillips Square in downtown Toronto. This is a free, alcohol free outdoor event. The girls will kick off the night at 9:00pm and then head over to Brampton for another show at 10:30pm.

“We are so excited to be part of such a Canadian tradition like the New Years Eve party at Toronto City Hall,” says Carried Away’s Colleen Walker. “Growing up in the Toronto area we used to watch the show on TV and we can’t believe that we now get to be part of it! We’ve heard that they expect 40,000! We feel so honoured and privileged to be there.”

The Ontario-bred group, comprised of sisters Colleen and Pam Walker plus their cousin Christine Prankard, have been busy this holiday season with the single Snow Falls being added to AC and Hot AC radio across Canada, receiving many hits for their creative cartoon web interactive video for the song and continuing their non-stop touring with some holiday performances now including the New Years show.

Since Carried Away performs at many holiday shows, they wanted to record an original Christmas song. “Christmas is ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ but for a lot of people it can also be sad, lonely and one of the most challenging times,” explains Colleen. “We wanted to let people know that though they may not be feeling the ‘Christmas Spirit’ that God is there for them.”

As a holiday gift to their fans, Carried Away is offering a free download of Snow Falls on their fan site. On the main page is also where you will find the cartoon interactive music video where you click on the different parts of the image to make the girls sing. There are over 100 possible combinations. “We wanted to put a smile on people’s faces this year,” says Colleen. “Our fans have always been so supportive so we wanted to do something special for them to show our appreciation.”

Carried Away took home another GMA Canada Covenant Award in October for Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year for I Want You. “We were all pretty surprised and excited! Winning the award was so encouraging for us; just to be recognized and rewarded for what we do was so cool,” exclaims Pam.

2007 has been a fantastic year and now Carried Away are looking forward to a busy 2008. “We’re so excited to be working again with some of our friends like Pure Fashion, Girls’ Heart Point and BRIO,” says Christine. Plans are getting in place to do a spring tour and lots of summer festivals. They even have plans to be at Fort Knox! A lot of people have been asking about a Christmas Album. Colleen explains “We don’t want to start any rumours, but we have been talking about it some, especially since ‘Snow Falls’ was released.”
