Just when you thought there might not be any new ground the music of Third Day could cover after a decade-plus career, along comes the instant success of its new single, “Call My Name”.
The power ballad debut track from the Atlanta-based band’s forthcoming album project Revelation garnered the highest-ever debut for a Third Day single, coming in at No. 16 on Radio & Records’ Christian AC chart. The song also shot to the top of the publication’s Most Increased Plays (up 295 spins) for the format, as well as launching over the Airpower threshold (top 20 in spins and audience), according to the April 14th edition of R&R Update Christian. “Call My Name” was an immediate add for 69 stations (52 AC, 17 CHR) from all over the country, including some of Christian radio’s key outlets, such as KLOVE, WAWZ – Star 99.1 New York City, WFSH – The Fish Atlanta, WLFJ – His Radio, WFFH – The Fish Nashville, KTIS – Minneapolis, KSBJ – Houston, KXOJ – Tulsa, KCMS – Spirit 105.3 Seattle, KFIS – The Fish Portland, and KDUV – Fresno/Visalia.
The instant success of “Call My Name” kicks off a very busy balance of April for the band, one that includes an April 19th performance at a youth rally at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, NY, an event that’s part of the itinerary for the first American papal visit by Pope Benedict XVI.
“It’s not every day that you’re invited to perform for a crowd being presided over by Pope Benedict XVI,” says Third Day lead vocalist Mac Powell. “This is a great honour for us.” The band will then head back down South to take part in events surrounding GMA Music Week starting April 20th, and caps off the week with an appearance at The Dove Awards on Wednesday, April 23rd.
The World Premiere performance of “Call My Name” is happening exclusively during the Dove Awards – only on Gospel Music Channel, LIVE Wednesday, April 23rd starting at 8:00PM eastern. Gospel Music Channel is available on DIRECTV Channel 338 and on cable. Check your local listings.
Third Day’s Revelation releases on July 29th, followed by a summer of festival appearances and an ambitious fall tour schedule to be announced in coming weeks.
