Aaron Wilburn Delivers A Little Bit Of Southern Culture

Publish Date: Apr 10, 2008

With approximately 4,400,000 views to date, a video of Aaron Wilburn performing his comedic song, “If My Nose Was Running Money,” is quite popular on YouTube, but is merely one of many cleverly written routines featured in his DVD entitled Southern Culture.

Wilburn, a clean, down-home comedian, peppers his act with stories about his roots, his family, his neighbours and friends. He muses about life in the South as well as life in general. “I’ve Got The Will” is a song rife with ironic humour about how life goes in cycles and one needs faith (and money) to get through them. His song, “Cat’s In The Kettle”, takes aim at what’s in his Chinese food (complete with audience-participation ‘meow’s) and his Redneck/You’re from Alabama jokes are as self-effacing and as endearing as the comedian himself.

Wilburn’s other gift of non comedic song-writing has brought brought him Dove Awards, as well as, two Grammy® nominations. In the year 2005, he was honoured by his home state, as the Alabama Hall of Fame put an exhibit of his life and music on display. That year, he was also named the official host/MC of the future Alabama Music Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.

If you tell him, “I love your act,” he’ll probably tell you, “that’s no act that’s who I am…”
