Artist Description | Kerri Woelke
Kerri Woelke is a Canadian roots/folk singer/songwriter hailing from Winnipeg, MB who got her first chance at a full-length album when she won the Manitoba Christian Talent Search, a local vocal competition hosted through Avanté Records and CHVN radio.
Kerri has played in bands Jam Sandwich, Dirty Old Hank, Gretchen, a duo with Chris Lacey, duo with Khel de Castro and most recently solo gigs.
She has played at places like the Morden Corn and Apple festival, the Winkler Harvest festival, Academey B & E, It’s a New Day, The Big Breakfast, The Franklin Graham festival youth lead up, the Back 40 Music Festival, live performance on Café 100.7FM and is a regular on the worship team at the Meeting Place.
This summer, she has put gigs to the side to write new material for her upcoming album. “I felt as through my songs reflected who I WAS a long time ago, I have changed since then and I wanted this album to reflect that. Every song I write is a journey of some kind, whether I’m trying to figure out my life and what God wants for me, or if I’m trying to understand someone else’s journey. It’s how I work through all of the biggest questions that I have in life (Or most of them. I’d have a million songs if that were exactly right I suppose)?
I want the music to represent me, I love thick instruments, passionate vocals and music fills. I really just want to have fun playing music, and I hope that people can relate to the journeys in my songs and derive a little bit of hope.”
