When it comes to describing the ideal musical artist, traits like approachable, talented, likeable, dedicated and sincere would definitely be tops on the list. Patricia Shirley is one who clearly has all of these attributes and more. Not only does she have a voice that most artists can’t come close to matching, but she exudes such a commitment to her walk with Christ that in hearing her speak, it makes you want to get to know more about the God she serves. When you hear her sing, you are convinced that there is something special about her.
Patricia was born in Toronto where she began her singing career at the tender age of 4, in a small local Pentecostal church. At the age of 11, she began singing in notable Canadian choirs such as the Association of Gospel Music Ministries choir (A.G.M.M) now known as Toronto Mass Choir, the Royal Priesthood Community Choir, and the Youth Outreach Mass Choir. Most recently, Patricia sang backup for Juno Award Nominee (Canadian equivalent of the Grammy Awards) and recording artist Londa Larmond. Individually and collectively, she has opened up and provided background for greats such as Hezekiah Walker, Take 6, Tramaine Hawkins, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Amanda Marshall, Sean “P.Diddy” Combs, Celine Dion, John P. Kee, Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp, Dawkins and Dawkins and Keith Staten.
Ever the one to look for opportunities to share her singing ability, Patricia has also showcased her talents for the silver screen. She appeared in the film Deacons for Defence an HBO movie directed by Bill Duke. The film starred Forest Whittaker, Ossie Davis and Jonathon Silverman. In the film, she played a choir soloist alongside Sharon Riley of Sharon Riley and Faith Chorale in the setting of 1960’s Alabama. Patricia’s astonishing voice landed her background credits on the soundtrack for the featured film Honey, produced by Rodney “Dark Child” Jerkins. She also played the role of a choir member in the film Turn It Up starring Hip Hop artists Ja Rule and Pras from The Fugees.
Patricia has traveled throughout Canada and the United States singing at various churches and conventions. She has had the privilege of singing at Pastor Shirley Caesar’s
Patricia’s strong determination to serve the Lord propels her to sing the gospel of Jesus Christ uncompromisingly. When she ministers, she does so with great expectancy that the presence of God will make an impact in the lives of her audience. Once you hear the voice of this 25-year-old dynamic singer, you know that she is gifted with a voice that heals hearts and inspires. Regardless of where she sings, the atmosphere changes and the presence of God becomes evident.
