Artist Description | Amanda Falk
Amanda Falk, a twenty one year old singer/songwriter from rural Manitoba, always felt that if God wanted her to share her music with others it would happen in His timing.
“For years people have been asking me when I’ll finally record a CD, and my sense has always been that if it was in God’s plan for me, He would lead me to the right people in order to make that happen.” An artist with Avante records, Amanda now has the opportunity to share her music.
With her music Amanda wants to relate to her generation. Amanda knows the issues that teens today are dealing with, and she wants to use her music to challenge them to be real. “I hope the honesty in my music can motivate young people to be honest with themselves and with God.”
Songwriting has become one of Amanda’s avenues for expression and reflection. “My songs are born out of the greatest and the lowest moments in my life. Moments of happiness and loneliness.” They reflect honesty that meet her audience where they’re at. Amanda’s songs deal with issues that every one encounters at some point in their lives. Amanda has faced personal challenges in her own life about relationships, pride, self-image and acceptance. She has also been through seasons of questioning and solidifying her faith. With Amanda’s honest songwriting she wants her music to connect with others who are struggling with these same issues.
Not only does this self-proclaimed farm girl have a musical gift; she also has a passion for the church. “I know music can reach people in miraculous ways, and my desire is for God to use me and to use my songs to bring people into His presence.” She also has a message for her generation. “We need to abandon our lukewarm philosophies about Christianity and start striving to not only be believers, but disciples of Christ.” Amanda wants to challenge people to go deeper, to not be content in where they are at in their faith. “It’s all about making yourself vulnerable to God. Surrendering your goals, ideas, and dreams, and giving him the chance to work through you.”
Growing up Amanda has always had a love for music. She could always be found singing along to her favourite CDs or being involved in worship bands at church. Amanda has completed her Performer’s ARCT, and she has been playing the piano since the young age of 4; it is obvious that she is truly a gifted musician. Amanda’s musical influences include artists like Nichole Nordeman, Michael W. Smith and Michelle Branch.
In the fall of 2003, Amanda was invited to tour Western Canada with Juno award nominee Jon Buller. In the spring of 2005, Amanda was nominated for four 2005 Shai Awards including Contemporary/Pop Album, Song of the Year for Small, New Artist of the Year, and Female Soloist of the Year and winning the New Artist of the Year category. Currently, Amanda is busy preparing for her upcoming Fall 2005 Canadian tour.
