Where to start?

For a while now, Maggie’s been laying down some tracks in different areas… Like writing books (three total, Coming Up For Air, With New Eyes, and Growing Up Together).

She’s also been up to some speaking, but in a most unconventional way at her Coming Up For Air Anti-conference. She says after years of “getting to the song,” in concert, and trying to keep the “stage chatter” to a minimum, she was happy to start expanding her events to include speaking. You’d be surprised who is listening too: they are the brave and “over-conferenced” people who love to come out to her 3-day “Coming Up For Air Anti-conference” that’s based on Maggie’s book, Coming Up For Air, which focuses on finding your core gifting and living with that as your guide—(ie: protecting your time and resources so your life can do what it is meant to do.)

The anti-conference is a fun, laid-back, three days that she sometimes hosts herself in pretty cool places like the W hotel in Seattle, Atlanta, and any other city that offers a nice place to relax with friends, see interesting things and maybe get a massage . . .

But hey, amazing hotels are not the only places she does these things. Churches are great for it too. In Colorado, Maggie did the CUFA Anti-conference, complete with the Friday night “hang”, the Saturday sessions that take place at 10 and 2, (late enough for you to sleep in), the “all-request” Saturday night up-close-and personal acoustic concert, and the Sunday morning communion service.

And of course, she’s speaking at other events too. Worship events, Music/Indie events, and, of course, the ones she’s been doing for years, Pastor’s conferences and Women’s conferences.

And Music?

Maggie’s got a new record featuring all new songs for all of you signature-Maggie B.-lyric-voice-and-melody starved fans, Air. Releases 2007. One long-time listener describes it “New thoughts from an old friend”. Another said, “Loved your music all throughout college, and lost touch after a while - how could you still be reading my journal after all these years?” But don’t believe a stranger, take the taste-test yourself. Since college and the iPhone, Maggie’s produced quite a few music offerings, all things she deems, “stuff I didn’t get to do when I was traveling two-thirds of the year!”

Sometimes when she gives a concert she stays over to sing at the Sunday services either for a few “specials”, sitting in with the worship team, or just continuing where she left off the night before.

And There’s Still More...

Maggie’s not only Producing her own projects, but music projects for other people too! Both indie and signed artists are retaining her vast knowledge and skills in the studio. Some you already know, like Rita Springer, Ginny Owens, Kelly Minter and Kristen Getty, as well as some Indies you’d be amazed at, like Mitch McVicker, Sue Samuel, Kathy Shooster and David M. Edwards (Well, that’s not quite true, some of these Indies, in fact all of them, got signed to a label).

“Producing other artists, and doing my one-on-one Intensives is by far the most fun of all the new things I get to do” Maggie shares. “Getting to figure out what makes an artist special, what makes them unique, is amazing. Getting to help refine their craft by bringing in the appropriate team for their project-what a gift.” “We all work together, artist out in front, us filling in the blanks. The end result is a project that highlights their art, and subsequently gives them something to offer to their audience,” Maggie adds.

“And in my weekend one-on-one intensives, we work out the bigger picture. Whether it is bettering yourself as a songwriter, marketing yourself, bettering your instrument; even if it is just the Life intensive, where we essentially go through many of the same concepts represented in Coming Up For Air, but in a specialized manner. The Intensives are life changing, challenging and fun for myself and whoever dares!” she adds with a wink.

So I know you’re wondering… How does she connect with people who want to have her Produce them, or go through an Intensive? “Just plain ask, it’s that simple.” She adds, “Artist intensives, Life Intensives, and Producing, they’re all part of encouraging and empowering people; they are part of my mission right now.”

With all the morphing and changing that takes place in a life or career you’ll be thrilled to know that the heart of Maggie is still what drives her every offering… it’s just that now there are so many more outlets. Whether it’s writing books, speaking, putting on her Coming Up For Air Anti-Conference, producing artists, offering life and artist intensives, making dining room tables (did I just say that?), writing songs; oh, and yes, I almost forgot - putting out records, Margaret Becker is still the Maggie B. you’ve come to love.
