Recorded live in various venues across America in 2007, 1200 Ft Below Sea Level, the newest CD from Jason Upton, finds Jason expressing the heart of God for His people through song, instrumental spontaneity and spoken word.

Utilizing his songs as vehicles of artistic expression, Jason leads his band and those in the audience into a contemplative, and yet, explosive musical devotion of what it means to follow Jesus and what it means to believe that the “kingdom is at hand”.

During 2005-2006, Key of David Ministries made efforts to record every event that Jason Upton and his team was scheduled to do. The idea was to capture a live recording of the particular song cycle that Jason planned on entitling “Beautiful People”. At the moment, it did not seem like this goal was accomplished, but sometimes hindsight is 20/20.

At two different events – one at Life Center International in Harrisburg, PA and the other at Morningstar Christian Fellowship in Fort Mill, SC – several of the recorded moments were beckoning to be shared with a larger audience. The compilation of these moments – both audio and video – will be released as one project entitled Between Earth And Sky.

The CD is a collection of 2 track, off-the-board, mixed-on-site audio recordings.

This project is a series of Holy Spirit led messages and prayers, put to song, caught on tape during times of worship.

The DVD mirrors much of Disc 1 from Harrisburg, PA. Disc 2 is from Holland with certain other material added.

Jason sensed the Lord saying that the prayer that’s needed today isn’t “open up the heavens”, but rather, “open up the earth” as God has always been available to us; it is we who have not been open to Him. Hence the title of the album.

The Great River Road is the river that runs from Lake Pepin, near Upton’s hometown, on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border to the Gulf. The current is so strong that it never freezes. It is where a refuge for eagles was created.

“This CD says a lot about what God has been trying to show me over the last several years: about entrusting myself to His will and purpose.
