Thrice

Thrice’s boundary pushing continues with the second installment of the Alchemy Index series. The Alchemy Index Vol. I & II: Fire & Water, released in October of last year, were met with tremendous critical acclaim and fanfare. Fans and critics were especially impressed with the Water side and just how far the band had pushed the parameters of what they can do as professional musicians.

The Alchemy Index Vol. III & IV: Air & Earth show two more sides of the band that anyone has yet to see. The Earth side will showcase a more stripped-down, raw element of the band, while Air will expose a more soft rock side.

One thing is for certain… no one really knows where Thrice’s music is going, and their fans seem to like it just fine that way.

For some bands, making the same album over and over again just doesn’t fulfill the members’ musical desires. Orange County, California’s Thrice is one of those bands. Having changed styles from record to record throughout their career, their latest album, The Alchemy Index Vols. I & II: Fire & Water, is by far the most unique, creative music the band has made to date.

The album features two EPs, the Fire disc and the Water disc. Each disc showcases a different side of the band’s styles. Fire leans toward the heavier sound and shows comparisons to the band’s old sound. Water features lush soundscapes and quiet rock.

Dustin Kensrue’s mature, broad vocals adorn both discs masterfully adding to the depth of each of the EPs.
