The Nelons

After a three and a half year studio hiatus, The Nelons are back with their latest musical effort, You Are God. Jason, Kelly and Amber agree that this is most definitely a “statement recording.” “We were very poignant in choosing and writing songs that speak of God and His greatness, majesty, splendor, love and mercy,” states veteran singer and Gospel Music favourite Kelly Nelon Clark.

After four years of serving as worship leaders for Grace Baptist Church, near Atlanta, Georgia, the Nelons decided to record a worship CD. Their reason…so that each song could be sung by God’s people directly to God instead of an audience. “God desires our worship. So it was our desire to write and record songs that the entire church could use to sing praise to Him,” states Jason Clark, producer.

Musically, this recording features eleven songs with an array of sounds that range from the acoustic guitar driven Let Your Glory Shine to the light Celtic bagpipes and woodwinds used in such modern hymns as Ancient Words and In Christ Alone. The Nelons lend their classic and somewhat haunting harmonies to the ancient hymn, What Wondrous Love.

18-year-old soprano, Amber Thompson vocally shines on the first single, We Speak Your Name. “Just after hearing Amber’s performance of the first verse, I knew right then this had to be the first single. Her delivery is flawless,” states co-executive producer for Vine records, Wayne Haun.
