The quintessential bluegrass group, The Lewis Family, is releasing a brand new project called Flyin’ High. The title song was inspired by Gary Ward – stunt pilot, Lewis Family neighbor and schoolmate of Little Roy’s. The cover features a picture of Gary’s plane as he showed The Lewis Family some of his stunts.

The Lewis Family won the Overall Gospel Group title in the 32nd Annual SPBGMA bluegrass music awards which were presented February 5, 2006 in Nashville, TN.

The Lewis Family was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame on Tuesday, February 22, 2005.

The Lewis Family won Bluegrass Album of the Year for “Angels Gathering Flowers” at the 2005 Dove Awards.

They have been honored with a total of seven Dove Awards (1999, 2000, 2003 Bluegrass Song of the Year and 2003, 2004 Bluegrass Album of the Year) , inducted in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and have had countless honors from the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America.
