The Gospel According To Patti Labelle
Release Date: Oct 30, 2007
Though Patti Labelle will perhaps be remembered for her #1 hit “On My Own” with Michael McDonald, the powerhouse R&B singer became increasingly Gospel-oriented as her career progressed.
The Gospel According To Patti Labelle is a solid 11-track anthology of some of her finest Gospel recordings, including versions of such classics as the Soul Seekers’ God Ain’t Through and original tunes like You Are My Friend.
The Gospel According To Patti Labelle makes it clear that, regardless of the subject matter, Labelle’s voice deserves her listeners’ praise.
The album features contributions from Yolanda Adams, Kanye West, Mary Mary, CeCe Winans, J Moss, Wynonna Judd and more.
Produced by the team of Nisan Stewart, Troy Taylor and Gordon Chambers, whose combined production credits include such artists as Warren G, Nate Dogg, Luther Vandross, Ron Isley, Boyz II Men and many more.
LaBelle’s tour for this album is passing through 14 of the largest African-American megachurches in the U.S. and is sponsored by Chrysler’s 2007 “Aspen” SUV. The church tour began at The Potter’s House in Texas, home to Bishop TD Jakes. Patti was blessed to have gospel legend Shirley Ceasar pray a special prayer.
“...for people to accept me as the new carrier of His word. God is working on me, He’s working through me, and He’s putting changes all over me – positive. I know I’m chosen. I know this is something I was meant to do. For 10 years now I’ve been trying to do this Gospel album and I finally did it. And it feels so good singing these songs.” – Patti Labelle.
Patti Labelle will be appearing on The Ellen Degeneres Show November 20th and Oprah on November 21st. See
