Jacob’s Ladder is a new series developed for youth ages 10-15 that will bring the Old Testament alive.
The clever storyline surrounds a group of young teenagers, “the teenpack,” who come across an old lighthouse. A mysterious character called Rafael, the lighthouse keeper, is able to transport members of the teenpack back in time. There they become involved in the Biblical characters’ lives and stories as we see them unfold. This approach faithfully retells the Bible stories while presenting them in a fascinating way for today’s youth.
Though geared for youth, these stories provide inspiring, character-building lessons which are appropriate for people of all ages.
Each episode is 30 minutes in length.
Episode 3: Naomi And Ruth – Canaan is devastated by a serious drought. Naomi, her husband, and their two grown sons are forced to leave their homeland, along with many other Hebrews. The family travels to the neighboring country of Moab, where they are taken in by a farmer and his daughter Ruth. Some local villagers and their leader Sisero oppose the Hebrew influx. They believe all foreigners should be forced to leave. Naomi’s husband gets sick and dies. A while later, Naomi’s sons marry Ruth and Orpah (Ruths friend), but Sisero is determined to get rid of the Hebrew family. One day, a terrible accident takes place….
Episode 4: Ruth And Boaz – As Naomi and Ruth arrive back in Canaan, Ruth sets out to get a job. She finds work at a local farm where she picks up leftover wheat after the harvesters have done their work. When Boaz, the landlord, arrives and introduces himself to Ruth, there is an instant mutual attraction. However, they are not of the same culture, class or age and have kept their distance. Naomi realizes that Boaz is from the family of her late husband and that he might have an obligation to marry Ruth and look after her and Naomi. A few weeks later, Naomi sends Ruth to the end of the harvest party. When its dark and the party is over, Ruth goes to speak to Boaz as he sleeps on the threshing floor. As he wakes, Ruth explains his obligation to marry her, but the story takes another turn.
