Some of the songs and ideas for this album had been sitting around for a few years, but never brought to a place where the band was happy with them. With the change of members in the band (a new drummer and Tim moving from guitar to bass), it helped The Contact approach the old ideas and write new ideas in a very fresh way.
Persistence is a central theme to the lyrics of the album. Pushing through the most adverse conditions in the journey of life, love, and faith. Most of the songs try to capture the questions and the hopes that stir in the mind of someone at these different stages.
This album is by far the most conceptual piece of art The Contact have ever done… it moves musically and lyrically from a dark valley where doubts and even moments of hopelessness abound, and then pushes through to a mountain where ascension begins. There is a change in perspective and hope when one sits in a valley compared with someone who begins to climb a mountain. The band has tried to communicate this journey musically and lyrically.
Produced by Grammy Award winning producer Quinlan (Benjamin Gate, Delirious?, Rebecca St. James) and mixed by Chuck Zwicky (Prince, Chantal Kreviazuk, Soul Asylum.
